Health and Safety
We demonstrate leadership and business excellence by integrating health, safety, and environmental management into our overall business operations. Calderys is committed to conducting business in a manner that promotes the health and safety of its employees, customers, contractors, and the communities adjacent to our facilities.
We are always working to reduce the number of lost-time accidents. However, safety is not about numbers—it´s about people.
All Calderys employees and contractors are informed on the proper health and safety practices and provided with the proper training. For example, our ACE Calderys location in India has implemented a behavior-based safety tool (SafeStart) that works to elevate individual safety awareness. The aim is to create a common language of safety, improve the patterns of safe thinking, and teach employees to recognize the types of behaviors that might precede the errors associated with those actions—being proactive versus reactive.
Environment:
Assessing our surroundings is a crucial element of our operations. We identify risks to the environment at each of our sites and develop preventative measures to minimize our environmental impact which, in turn, contributes to the overall financial and non-financial success of our business as well as yours. Knowing the host-country regulatory requirements, and developing remediation and restoration activities, allows us to conduct a professional and ethical business operation.
The Calderys EH&S team adheres to, and strives to surpass the minimum standards of, all applicable EHS laws and regulations. Waste reduction, energy saving technology, and water treatment systems are a few of the practices we have put in place.

Quality/Sourcing/Purchasing
Imerys, parent company to Calderys, is the world leader in the supply of raw materials to the refractory industry. This provides Calderys with consistent reliable access to high quality raw materials which are essential for R&D activities as well as production. For example, we have access to a Silica mine in Sweden that is rich in high quality quartzite deposits.
For all the different types of raw material that we purchase, we have dedicated technical experts with specialized knowledge of the materials and the products associated with those materials. Also, Calderys takes special care in selecting external suppliers assessing their capabilities and supply chain by auditing the site of the supplier. Every step is taken to ensure that Calderys will receive top quality materials that can be supplied in a stable and efficient manner.
At Calderys, we use a global formula management system to ensure consistency of product, security of formulation, and global standardization of our products. Our production line supervision systems give us the capability to check and monitor the accuracy and consistency of our products to extremely small tolerances.
In partnership with our customers and suppliers, Calderys aims to develop products, technologies and services to meet the changing needs of the refractory industry.
