Product Development

 

Calderys offers the most complete and best performing monolithic refractory product range. Selecting the right product, or solution, for our customers is paramount.

Our R&D teams are composed of engineers and technicians that have a deep understanding of customers' operating practices, as well as engineers dealing with raw materials and product technical data. We are continuously upgrading the Calderys product and solution range—introducing on average 20 innovative new products every year. We develop concepts and products to address new markets, recent technical and health & safety trends.

The sustained success of our product development is based on a pragmatic mix between fundamental research, sometimes in collaboration with world renowned universities, and a strong field-oriented spirit. Calderys is a member of FIRE (Federation for International Refractories Research and Education) and the DRUIDE consortium, a French national research program focusing on the durability of refractory ceramics used in waste to energy facilities. These programs allow postgraduate university students an opportunity to conduct research in partnership with the Calderys R&D team. Not only do we partner with universities for research, but we have formed research partnerships with some of our customers as well. Adhering to upcoming regulations and our vision of sustainable business practices, we make sure to provide product and associated technical, health, and safety documentation for all of our products.

Solution in practice

We adapt our products to changes in customer operational processes as well as the request for increased equipment availability through the reduction in downtime, increase in the period of time without maintenance and accelerated maintenance practices.

We also make possible the use of new and alternative raw material sources and recycled raw materials.

Addressing the need of our customer for rapid commissioning of equipment we developed a new bonding system that allow a quick dry-out of the monolithics. A complete range of QD (Quick Dry) products has been introduced such as CALDE™ CAST NA 55 QD, CALDE™ CAST NM 60 QD, CALDE™ CAST NB 82 QD, ALKON® CAST NB 84 QD and is currently being expanded.

In the cement industry, some of our customers are now using alternative fuels in their cement process. To adapt to this new practice, Calderys designed a range of refractory able to withstand the different chemicals being introduced by these alternative fuels. One product dedicate to the cement plant industry is CALDE™ CAST NA 48 SA QD, which is alkali resistant.
