Heat Transfer Calculation is an essential discipline part of Thermal Engineering. Heat Transfer can occur through:
Conduction/Diffusion: transfer of energy between objects that are in physical contact
Convection: transfer of energy between an object and its environment, due to fluid motion
Radiation: transfer of energy to or from an object by means of electromagnetic radiation
Mass transfer: transfer of energy from one place to another as a side effect of physically moving an object containing that energy.
Heat transfer calculations integrate the thermal conductivity of refractory materials. This calculus is necessary for the engineering of the refractory linings.
