Success Story

Full package refractory installation for aluminium furnaces in Xiamen, China

Aluminium Project Xiamen China

Calderys Deutschland successfully completed the installation of a 110 tonne round melting furnace and a 110 tonne holding furnace for Gautschi Engineering GmbH at the customer Xiashun in Xiamen, China. In addition, an exhaust gas channel, measuring approximately 12m, a 23m stack, and 4 mobile burners for the melting furnace were installed.

The melting furnace as well as the holding furnace was installed with a combination of refractory bricks and castables. The insulation consists of bricks, concrete, and fibre material. The burner blocks as well as complicated geometrical surfaces were installed with castable refractories. The removable roof is made from bricks.

The upper ring, which carries the lid, was installed from precast pieces produced at the Neuwied plant, just as the the precast pieces for the round shapes at the door opening.

The exhaust channel was mounted on-site in several steps with cast concrete. The 4 moveable burners were installed on-site with precast pieces, produced in Neuwied, and cast concrete.

This line 2 was started up following the successful installation of Line 1 some years prior, proving the value of Calderys project services that keep customers coming back for more.
